Sir, What starts as a trickle ends up in a flood for Government revenue collection: sales tax, excise, service tax, etc., coupled with TDS and increasing penalties for default akin to financial terrorism as S. Rajaratnam put it (April 29). Senior citizens should be spared the tedium of TDS and filing for refunds. Except for a few enjoying pension, others depend on interest and dividend income. Thanks to the rebate of Rs. 5000 in tax, most of them will not be paying net tax. There will not be loss of revenue on this score but save a lot of avoidable effort allround. B. Natarajan, Chennai
