According to an official spokesman here, the Governor had received a written request from the State Government for removal of Sidhu, who was arrested earlier this month in a case related to accepting an alleged bribe and amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Meanwhile, the State Vigilance Bureau has registered another case to investigate different aspects of the deals in the scam, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and Chief Director of the Vigilance Bureau, Mr. A.P. Pandey told presspersons here this evening.Appearing quite satisfied with the ``good job'' done so far by his department, Mr. Pandey said that apart from Sidhu, his mother, brother, sister-in-law and five alleged touts had been booked in the new case for their involvement in the scandal. He said that the case has been registered in Patiala under various sections of corruption law.
