Opinion - Letters to the Editor

An anti-climax

Sir, — It proved an anti-climax. The Opposition lost out in Parliament. In the past 10 years, it is more than clear the Opposition has been doing nothing constructive. First the POTA and now the censure motion, the Opposition has only tried to weaken the ruing alliance and force a mid-term poll. Victories in State polls are making the Opposition arrogant, inducing repeated attempts to destabilise the National Democratic Alliance Government. It is time the Opposition worked constructively.

The BJP's action in Uttar Pradesh too may be viewed as not opportunistic. The State Assembly cannot be allowed to function without an elected leader. Maintaining rigid positions would have invited new elections and huge expenditure without guaranteed solution.

B.N. Gangadhar,

Bangalore
