Both Sumit and Rupesh won their matches in three sets, to maintain an unbeaten record. The fifth-seeded India had beaten Indonesia and Chinese Taipei earlier in group `II'. Though, India had ensured its entry into the quarterfinals, it will have to complete the doubles matches, against Australia and Chinese Taipei, like all other teams, to decide the group placings. The results: India bt Australia 2-0 (Sumit Prakash Gupta bt Anthony Tuong 5-7, 6-1, 6-1; Rupesh Roy bt Todd Ley 6-1, 1-6, 6-3; Sumit/Rupes v Stephen Fotakis/Todd Ley - suspended due to rain.)
