The security forces cordoned off the house on Thursday evening following information that some ultras were hiding there. The ultras hurled grenades and opened fire, injuring five jawans. Two civilians who were reportedly sent for negotiations with the militants came under fire and received injuries. It was not clear as to how many militants were holed up in the house which is in a congested locality. Initial reports said four were hiding in it. During the encounter fire broke out, engulfing 10 houses. Officials maintained that the blaze broke out after a gas cylinder exploded, but the locals alleged that army personnel sprinkled gun powder to put the houses on fire in order to corner the militants.
