Partha crushes Donovan

Mumbai May 5. Partha Bhattacharya got the better of a superior player in American Stephen Donovan to advance into the final round of the $ 6250 MSLTA ITF Men's Satellite qualifiers at the G.A. Ranade Tennis Centre on Sunday.

Bhattacharya won 6-2, 6-2 against Donovan, the No. 3 seed behind Kedar Tembe and Anant Sitaram in the qualifying draw. Bhattacharya will play Karan Rastogi in final round of the qualifiers on Monday morning.

The tournament proper will start in the afternoon with recipients of `wild cards' Sandeep Kirtane and Punna Vishal featuring in one of the three single matches. Sandeep had a good run last week in New Delhi when he defeated national champion Manoj Mahadevan and Vijay Kannan before being beaten in the quarterfinals.

The other two first round matches of the Satellite will be between Kamala Kannan and South African Ciaran Moore and Rohan Gajjar and Japan's Hayato Furukawa.

The top seed Mustafa Ghouse is drawn to meet German Giunior Ghedina and the No. 2 seed from Israel Tomer Suissa will take on another German Sebastian Niedermayer. Nitin Kirtane (No. 3) and Manoj Mahadevan (No. 5) are drawn to meet qualifiers in their first round matches.
