Singer detained

Beijing May 5. Noted classical singer, Shubha Mudgal, was briefly detained at Hong Kong's International Airport amidst reports of mounting concern of racial profiling by immigration authorities, a charge denied by the Government of the former British colony.

Hong Kong's leading newspaper, Sunday Morning Post today reported that the immigration authorities at the airport had briefly detained Ms. Mudgal and her husband for an hour shortly after she flew into Hong Kong from Mumbai last November to attend an arts exhibition in the Special Administrative Region of China. .
