Letters to the Editor
Sir, Though the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, has been criticised by all and sundry for his handling of the Gujarat situation, he seems to have garnered sympathy by his statement, "I should have done more." It speaks volumes of the individual's desire to do more for the State, though he may be hampered by other compulsions, such as those from the VHP and the RSS. It is hoped that the grant announced by the Centre reaches the victims and tranquillity is restored by the Chief Minister, who has got a second chance to redeem his pride.
