AICC session put off

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI MAY 8. The AICC session scheduled for May 18 has been postponed and will now be held on May 24 here. The party has been forced to shift the dates, after "the inexplicable" cancellation of permission to use the Indira Gandhi indoor stadium.

AICC sources said the party had applied for and had been granted permission to use the Indira Gandhi stadium. But the permission was later withdrawn. Significantly, the stadium is run by the Sports Ministry and has in the past been rented out for star shows and political jamborees.

The AICC has now booked the Talkatora stadium and the session will now be held there. It has hosted several such events, including a special one-day session in 1999.
