AICC sources said the party had applied for and had been granted permission to use the Indira Gandhi stadium. But the permission was later withdrawn. Significantly, the stadium is run by the Sports Ministry and has in the past been rented out for star shows and political jamborees. The AICC has now booked the Talkatora stadium and the session will now be held there. It has hosted several such events, including a special one-day session in 1999.
