He identified other areas as well for cooperation between the two countries including electronics, auto industry, biotechnology, tourism, and avionics. Addressing a meeting on Indo-Mexican Economic Relations organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), he said Mexico also looked forward to joint ventures with Indian companies for electronics and auto parts manufacturing, He said Mexico had emerged as a world class exporter of auto parts. Mr. Derbez said bio-technology offered the other major opportunity. In tourism, the Minister suggested that the two countries could put together tourist packages for the mutual benefit of both countries. Mexico also had the expertise of producing worldclass components for airplanes and it would soon set up units to produce aircraft engines. Textile was yet another area for mutual cooperation. The Minister said Mexican companies would invest in India and set up export production units to export to the U.S. and Europe. He said India was a natural international partner for Mexico in view of the cultural similarities between the two nations. He felt it was better for Mexico to associate itself with India rather than China owing to its democratic traditions and the strength of its institutions. Mr. Debrez also commended India's role in trying to raise awareness about economic disparities among nations. He called for raising the level of trade between the two nations.
