Sir, The appointment of Manohar Joshi as the Lok Sabha Speaker will only be seen as a move to appease the VHP. The political parties seem to choose people only for their own convenience and to please their allies, forgetting the importance of such posts. The same holds good for the appointment of Governors too. For both posts, the chosen person must be non-partisan. As a Speaker, he has to uphold the decorum of the House and also be fair to the Opposition benches.
