The milk of human kindness!

New Delhi May 16. Poverty-stricken 26-year old Dulari Devi of Bihar's Madhubani district was so moved when she saw a newly-born lamb lying helplessly after the ewe that gave birth to it died that she breast-fed the animal and looked after its well-being.

As word spread in her village, people praised her efforts despite not being in a position to even feed herself and felt the authorities should do help her to ensure that the lamb was not sold.

The issue was raised in the Lok Sabha today during zero hour by the former Union Minister and JD(U) member, D. P. Yadav, who pleaded that a national award be given to the woman for her unique gesture.

The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, said he would convey the member's feelings to the Minister concerned. — PTI
