Lensman awarded

NEW DELHI MAY 16. Associate Press photographer, Manish Swarup, was awarded the first prize for his picture `Agony of a fire at Yamuna Pusta' in the News Photo Contest 2001 at Triveni Kala Sangam here on Wednesday. Mr. Swarup, who has been in the profession for over 13 years, had earlier received the best photo award from the Indian Government for his coverage of the Kargil war and second prize from the International Committee of the Red Cross for a Kargil photograph.

Harish Tyagi and Ajay Aggarwal received the second and third prizes respectively. In addition, 10 consolation prizes were also given away. In all 91photographers from across the country had submitted 371 entries for the award.
