Man beaten to death

HYDERABAD May 16. A man, P. Balaraju (35), of Khanajiguda was beaten to death under Alwal police station limits on Thursday. It is suspected that the victim's reported involvement in the murder of another villager, Prakash, in Togura police station limits could be the reason for his murder.

The police said the victim was surrounded by six persons who came on three motorbikes while he was waiting at Vikrampuri bus stop in the village. They took him to an isolated place near Pochamma temple, where about 20 persons were waiting for him. They beat him with sticks and sharp weapons and killed him.

Two die in mishap

Two youths died on the spot when their two-wheeler crashed into a bovine on Thorur road under Hayatnagar police station limits here tonight. One of the youth was identified as Akhil (20).

Ornaments stolen

Gold ornaments worth Rs. 10 lakhs were stolen from the house of an advocate, Venkat Reddy, in A.P. Agriculture University colony in Gaddiannaram on Wednesday. The Malakpet police said Mr. Reddy brought the jewellery from the bank locker to his house on April 25 as his daughter was returning from America.
