The Indian Women's Hockey Federation (IWHF) has picked an 18-member team after a two-day selection trials, held at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on May 15 and 16. India will host the US next month, and the winner of the series will qualify for the 10th Women's World Cup, scheduled to be held in Perth, from November 25 to December 8, 2002. The three matches will be played on June 3, June 4 and June 6. The same team will travel to Manchester, England, for a four-nation tournament, scheduled from June 14 to 16. Besides Manjinder, half-back Gurpreet Kaur has found a place in the team. Also, the IWHF is yet to take final decision on the 18th slot. For the moment, it has put both Surinder Kaur and Adline Kerketta, in the reckoning. Following this, Agnecia Lugun and Shahina Kispotta have found themselves out of favour. They were the part of Indian team, which participated in the Champions Challenge Tournament in South Africa this February. The team: Goalkeepers: Tingoleima Chanu, Helen Mary. Full backs: Amandeep Kaur, Suman Bala, Pushpa Pradhan. Half-backs: Sita Gussain, Sumrai Tete, Suraj Late Devi, Gurpreet Kaur, Masira Surin. Forwards: Pritam Rani Siwach, Manjinder Kaur, Sanggai Ibemhal Chanu, Mamta Kharab, Jyoti Sunita Kullu, Pakpi Devi, Nidhi Nandanoori, Surinder Kaur or Adline Kerketta.
