Narrow escape

Kochi May 18. All the 220 passengers on board an Indian Airlines flight from Sharjah escaped unhurt when four tyres of the Airbus-300 burst on landing at the Kochi International Airport at Nedumbassery today.

The runway of the airport was closed for four hours and incoming flights were diverted following the incident, according to airport officials. The aircraft was later towed away and the runway reopened. The flight on the Sharjah-Kozhikode-Goa route landed at Nedumbassery after it was diverted due to bad weather. — UNI
