Four killed in J&K

SRINAGAR MAY 19. Four persons, including two militants and a counter-insurgent, were killed in separate incidents while 11 were injured in two explosions in Jammu and Kashmir since last night, an official spokesman said today.

A civilian, who was among 15 people injured in Friday's explosion outside the fire service headquarters here, succumbed to injuries in a hospital taking the toll in the blast to three.

A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant Abu Neman, a Pakistan national, was killed in an encounter with the army at Baderhal forests in Kupwara district early today, the spokesman said.

A local Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Ghulam Mustafa, was killed in a gunfight between militants and security forces at Dubjan forests in Shopian area of Pulwama district last night.

Militants shot dead a counter-insurgent associated with Ikhwan outfit, Mohammad Abbas Ganai, near his house in Mattan area of Anantnag district this afternoon. Six pedestrains, including three women, were injured when militants exploded a grenade at Niloo market of Anantnag district yesterday, the spokesman said adding the explosive was aimed at a security patrol but it missed its target and exploded on the road.

Three BSF jawans on patrol duty were injured when their vehicle was blown up by an improvised explosive device by militants at Chenani-Gorikund road in Udhampur district today. Earlier militants had set off an IED at Handoora-Larnoo road in Tral area of Pulwama district injuring two security personnel and partially damaging their vehicle.
