Set a target of 418, after India `A' declared its second innings at the overnight score of 302 for four, the home side concluded the fourth and final day at 291 for five. Play commenced only at 12.30 p.m. due to overnight rain. Avishka Gunawardene (82, 94b, 10x4, 1x6) and G.I. Daniel (84, 171b, 6x4) provided Sri Lanka `A' with a fine 128-run start. Daniel continued the good work, displaying solid defence and sound approach, while adding 87 for the next wicket with Md. Nawaz, who remained undefeated on 84 (149b, 8x4). For the visitor, medium pacer Irfan Pathan (Jr) took two wickets and leg-spinners Amit Mishra and Sairaj Bahutule one each. The teams move on to Moratuwa, where the second Test will be played at the De Soysa Stadium between May 22 and 25. The scores: India `A' 315 & 302 for four decl. drew with Sri Lanka `A' 200 & 291 for five in 80 overs (D.A. Gunawardene 82, G.I. Daniel 84, M.N. Nawaz 84 not out).
