It carries articles and interviews on various topics related to agriculture, agri industry and management by professionals. Launching the portal, the Union Agriculture Minister, Ajit Singh, said agriculture today was becoming a business like any other business information technology. He said science and technology would play a greater role as new varieties of genetically modified (GM) crop, fertilizers and pesticides found more application in agriculture. The portal has been functionally designed to categorise the agriculture sector on the basis of input and output of the industry such as seeds, agrochemicals, NGO, rural credit, farm machinery, consulting projects, biotechnology, veterinary medicines and animal feed. According to an estimate, the private sector was likely to account for more than 90 per cent fresh jobs in the agriculture sector in the next five years. Hence such portals would play a vital role in facilitating the tasks of prospective employers and job aspirants.
