`PM will lead the battle against terrorism'

By Our Special Correspondent

VIJAYAWADA May 20. The BJP president, Jana Krishnamurthy, has said that the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, would take all steps necessary to ensure that the Pakistan-inspired terrorist outfits would never again attempt to disrupt public life in India.

He told newspersons here today that the Prime Minister was determined to lead the battle against terrorism from the front. Mr. Vajpayee had briefed the Opposition leader, Sonia Gandhi, on the situation and brought the BSF under the Army command. He would visit Jammu and Kashmir for three days and visit the forward areas to assess the situation. The people should close ranks and extend the fullest cooperation to the Government in all its actions. To a question, he said India would be able to enlist the U.S.' support in case of war with Pakistan.

America had realised India's importance vis-a-vis Pakistan. India had survived U.S. sanctions imposed by the U.S. in the wake of the nuclear tests.

Mr. Krishnamurthy said Pakistan was playing a dangerous game of challenging India. While encouraging terrorists to operate from its soil, Pervez Musharraf pretended to take action against terrorists.
