Task force set up on Rozgar Yojana

NEW DELHI MAY 21 . The Government has constituted a Task Force under the chairmanship of the Union Minister for Rural Development, M. Venkaiah Naidu, to design and determine the modalities for implementing the Jayaprakash Rozgar Guarantee Yojana (JPRGY).

This scheme — announced by the Finance Minister in the Budget speech and named after the socialist leader, Jayaprakash Narayan, to mark his birth centenary year — seeks to provide employment guarantee to unemployed youth in the 100 most distressed districts of the country.

The first meeting of the Task Force has been scheduled for May 29.

Other members of the Task Force are the Union Minister for Urban Development, Ananth Kumar, the Union Minister for Agro & Rural Industries, Kariya Munda, the Minister of State for Small-Scale Industries, Vasundhara Raje, the Minister of State for Finance, Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, the member in charge of employment generation in the Planning Commission, S.P. Gupta, the former NABARD Chairman, T. Kotaiah, IIM professor, Gopal Naik, and the Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Mumbai, Mahesh Sharma.

Besides prescribing the modalities, the Task Force has been asked to identify the most distressed districts of the country, identify the Ministries/Departments and agencies to facilitate the execution of different components of the Yojana, assess and determine the district-wise allocation of resources for the identified districts.
