Show restraint, China tells India, Pak.

BEIJING MAY 21. China today said it was concerned over the tense military standoff between India and Pakistan and urged the two nuclear powers to exercise restraint and resolve their differences peacefully through negotiations.

``It is known to all that China, as a friendly and close neighbour of India and Pakistan, is concerned over the tension between New Delhi and Islamabad,'' the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Kong Quan, told reporters here in the country's initial reaction to the current tension between the two nations after New Delhi asked Islamabad to withdraw its Ambassador from India on Saturday.
