Southern States - Tamil Nadu-Chennai

Scant regard for cone speaker law

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI May 21. The ban on cone speakers by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board did not matter at the Chennai Corporation headquarters today, when the equipment was used for the anti-terrorism oath administered by the Mayor, M.K. Stalin. A cone speaker blared in the corridors of the Ripon Building as the Mayor read out the brief message to a gathering of councillors and officials.

Despite warnings by the TNPCB and boards put up behind MTC buses giving complaint numbers, political parties have shown little regard for the ``cone speaker'' law in the city.
