Tamil Nadu-Chennai
By Our Staff Reporter
With the election code of conduct in force, no tenders relating to grant of works or new schemes were discussed. Most of the tenders were related to retirement of Corporation staff and related benefits. The Mayor, M.K. Stalin, read out the resolutions, with both the treasury and the opposition benches giving their assent readily. The BJP corporator, P.S.S. Dhanushkodi, registered a protest stating that the scrapping of zero hour was not ``fair''. He was overruled by the Mayor, who said the zero hour was scrapped only on the request of the ruling and opposition party leaders. Later, the Mayor administered the anti-terrorism oath to the councillors and Corporation officials.
