Held for `cheating' depositors

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI May 21. A retired tahsildar, who was running a financial firm at Anna Nagar, was arrested on charges of cheating depositors to the tune of several lakhs.

Police identified the arrested person as Thirunavukkarasu, managing director of Thirumuruga Investment.

According to police, he had collected deposits from several persons but did not return the money even after the maturity date. Following this the Economic Offence Wing police personnel registered a case and were on the lookout for him.

Police said Thirunavukkarasu was earlier arrested on charges of cheating depositors through a different company called `Thirumuruga Finance and Real Estate'. He had later come out on bail in this case.
