Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Staff Reporter
Addressing a press conference here today, he charged CPI(M) of large scale encroachment in Wayanad with the help of a section of illiterate Adivasis. The party did not even bother to enquire about the condition of the Adivasis who were arrested and sent to jail, he said. Mr. Ramachandran said the move by the CPI(M) in Wayanad was aimed at misleading the people against the UDF Government which had decided to allot land for the Adivasis. He also added that the CPI(M)-led Adivasis had occupied the land under the control of the Forest Department. While the Adivasis were arrested, the CPI(M) leaders did not bother to come to the forefront of the strike, which itself points that the CPI(M) was adopting "double standards'' on this issue, he said. He also urged the Government to take legal action against Mr. Nayanar and Mr. Vijayan for allegedly instigating the illiterate Adivasis for encroaching the forestland. The KPCC general secretary, K. C. Rosakutty, also attended the press conference.
