Tension over takeover of temple

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE May 21. There was tension for some time on Subedar Chatram Road in Gandhinagar here on Tuesday when the Muzrai Department took over the management of the Annamma Temple.

The trustees of the temple, which is a few centuries old, priests, and hundreds of devotees had gathered at the temple premises since morning, and tension mounted when news of the decision of the Muzrai Department spread.

Officials of the Muzrai Department, who arrived at the temple on Tuesday to conduct a survey of the premises, sought police protection.

However, police claimed that there was no tension. They said the Muzrai Department officials had gone to the temple for conducting a survey, and that they had completed the work.
