Pondy Govt. awaiting clearance of files

Pondicherry May 22. The Lt. Governor was given a list of names of persons for the posts of Chairmen of the statutory bodies in the Union Territory, according to informed sources.

The Lt Governor, who is also the Adminsitrator of Pondicherry, should give assent for any appointment decided by the Government.

The sources said the Union Home Ministry would be approached to seek clearance of files of Pondicherry Government lying before the Central departments so that follow up action on various crucial issues could be taken.

The Congress-TMC coalition ministry would complete one year in office in the next few days.

The much-awaited civic polls would be held by October, the sources said.
