Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Kerala Maritime Institute, he said the Vizhinjam port would provide the necessary impetus for the industrial development of the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Kanyakumari. The construction of the institute will be over within three to four months, the Minister said. The institute at Valiyathura will provide four-month courses with three batches in a year. Training will also be provided in the inland water transport sector.
Port at Adimalathura
Inaugurating the construction of the cargo wharf at the Vizhinjam port this evening, Mr. Raghavan said the Government had plans to set up a port of international standards at Adimalathura, near Vizhinjam. He accused certain vested interests of trying to sabotage the port project.
