Sir, I wish to draw your attention to the extreme heat wave conditions in most parts of India. I am sure everyone would agree that this phenomenon is largely due to ruthless deforestation. I fail to understand why in this era when "genetically-modified" plants and crops are being grown we have still not been able to produce seeds which grow into trees in about one year. Such a move will help preserve the ecological balance. Shalabh Sharma, Ranchi
