42 killed in shoe unit fire

Agra May 24. At least 42 people were burnt alive and 10 sustained burn injuries in a major fire that swept through a shoe factory in the bustling Jeon Mandi market here today.

Rescuers, including Army and Air Force personnel, have so far retrieved 42 badly charred bodies, from the two-storey building that collapsed following the fire, V.K. Dohre. SP (Agra city) said adding the toll was likely to go up. Over 100 workers were in the premises when the fire broke out. — PTI
