India to fight for fifth place

NEW DELHI MAY 25. India defeated Indonesia 2-1 in the play-off match of the Asia-Oceania World Junior Davis Cup tennis tournament in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

The Indian team, which had failed to book a berth for the World Group, will take on Uzbekistan in the match for the fifth place.

In the semifinals, Australia defeated Japan 2-1 and Korea beat China 2-1.

The results:

Fifth place play-off: India bt Indonesia 2-1 (Tushar Liberhan lost to Sunu Wahyu Trijati 4-6, 4-6; Karan Rastogi bt Anthony Muki Tan 6-1, 6-1; Karan and Tushar bt Amdanu and Trijati 6-3, 6-3). Uzbekistan bt Sri Lanka 2-1 (Vladislav Shegai lost to Amrith Rupasinghe 4-6, 4-6; Arseniy Komarov bt Oshadda Wijemanne 6-2, 7-6 (7-5); Dustov and Shegai bt Rupasinghe and Sabanathan 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3)).
