Act tough on miscreants, Gill tells police

By Our Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD May 26 . As the Godhra police continued to look for a clue to the sudden bomb explosion on Friday leading to a fresh round of violence in the infamous town, K.P.S. Gill, Security Adviser to the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, has asked the police to act tough on the miscreants.

At the advice of Mr. Gill, who visited Godhra, the police have decided to form a committee of five leading members each from the Hindu and Muslim communities to advice the police on security matters and maintain peace in the town.

Mr. Gill has also advised the police and the civil authorities to send medical teams to the residence of minorities to check and treat in case any member of the community sustains injury in the riots but does not dare to come out and seek medical aids due to fear. Such process, he believed, would help arrest the growing feeling of alienation among the minorities.

Meanwhile, no untoward incident was reported from Godhra or any other part of the trouble-torn State as indefinite curfew continued to remain in force in Godhra without any relaxation while only night curfew remained in force in some parts of Ahmedabad.
