Mysore airport: Centre, State in blame game

By Our Staff Correspondent

MYSORE May 26. The prospects of developing the Mandakalli Airport near Mysore appear bleak if the manner in which the Centre and State Governments are passing the buck is any indication.

A few days after the Minister of State for Information Technology, B. K. Chandrashekar, said the State Government could do very little in the matter relating to the development of the airport near Mysore, the Union Minister for Urban Development, Ananthkumar, blamed the State Government for the airport project remaining stagnant. Mr. Ananthkumr, who was the Civil Aviation Minister before being shifted to the Urban Development Ministry, said the Centre had cleared the project and allocated necessary funds.

He said it was up to the State Government to acquire land for the airport. The State Government had failed to acquire land.
