9 Gujarat riot accused held

Ahmedabad May 26. Police have arrested nine persons in connection with the killing of minority community members, including the former Congress MP, Ehsan Jaffri, in two localities of Ahmedabad during the violence here a day after the Godhra carnage.

The city Crime Branch under `Operation Crackdown' on Saturday arrested five persons in connection with the attack on Gulbarg housing society in Meghaninagar, in which at least 39 people, were murdered on February 28, police said here today. Earlier 20 persons were arrested in connection with this case. While four persons were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the killing of six persons at Naroda Patia, the total number of accused held in the case has gone up to 27. — PTI
