In a statement issued from Mumbai, Telco's vice-president (corporate communications), V. Krishnan, said the sales office at Patna continued to be operational and the company had no intention of winding up operations there. However, the company said it had lodged an FIR after some ``miscreants'' forcibly took away five passenger vehicles from the Patna sales office last week. It had not taken up the matter with the Union Home Ministry. Describing the incident as ``tragic'', Telco said Bihar was a strong market for the company which had a long-standing relationship with the State. The Deputy Superintendent of Patna police, Arvind Kumar, told PTI that enquiries had revealed that the company officials themselves handed over the keys of vehicles to some persons on the occasion of the marriage of the daughter of the RJD supremo, Laloo Prasad Yadav, on May 24. The five vehicles had since returned to the Telco stockyard, he said. The Patna Telco office, located in the heart of the city and the company's stockyard at Deedarganj on the Patna-Ranchi bypass road were locked, with a few private security guards manning them. — PTI
