By Our Correspondent

SRINAGAR MAY 28. The Amarnath yatra will start on July 22 and the darshan of the ice lingam (personification of Lord Shiva) in the cave shrine will be held on August 22.

This was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by the Jammu and Kashmir Governor, G.C. Saxena, at Pahalgam to review the arrangements for the pilgrimage. More than 1.3 lakh pilgrims are expected to take part in the month-long yatra.

The Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah, also attended the meeting along with senior administration and police officials. He suggested construction of more accommodations for tourists in Baltal and Anantnag.
