21 killed in U.P. storm

Etawah (U.P.) May 28. At least 21 persons were killed and 70 injured when several houses collapsed following heavy rains and gusty winds that lashed parts of Etawah and Auraiya districts on Monday night, official sources said here today.

Normal life was disrupted as telecom services and power supply were hit by the storm. Traffic on the National Highway connecting Delhi was affected as hundreds of uprooted trees blocked the road.

A relief of Rs.50,000 to the next of the kin of the killed had been announced, the sources said. — PTI
