Journalist shot at

SRINAGAR MAY 29. Sheikh Zafar Iqbal, a sub-editor-cum-reporter of a local English daily, Kashmir Images, was shot at from a point-blank range by two unidentified gunmen in the posh Lampart line of Residency road today.

Eyewitnesses told The Hindu that at around 2.50 p.m., two gunmen entered the newspaper office and told Mr. Iqbal to sign a letter. After a heated exchange of words, the gunmen shot Mr. Iqbal. Two bullets hit him on the neck and one on his leg. The severely injured journalist was taken to hospital where his condition was described as serious.
