Rupee ends lower on dollar demand

MUMBAI MAY 30. The rupee declined against the U.S. currency due to month-end dollar demand in moderately active but slightly nervous trading at the interbank foreign exchange market here today.

Opening softer at 48.98/99 a dollar, the rupee steadily moved down to close at 49/49.0050, a 2-1/2 paise decline from Wednesday's finish of 48.9750/9800. — PTI
