3 Maharashtra Ministers quit

Mumbai May 30 . Three Ministers in Maharashtra today resigned in protest against the re-induction of the NCP leader, Sunil Dattatraya Tatkare, into the Cabinet, but the NCP spokesman, Vasant Chavan, declared that there was no immediate threat to the Democratic Front Government.

The Minister for Marketing, Ganpatrao Deshmukh, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Meenakshi Patil, and the Minister of State for Horticulture, Mohan Patil, (all belonging to the Peasants and Workers Party (PPP)) met the Chief Minister, Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh, and handed over their resignations.

The Chief Minister asked them to reconsider their decision, according to Mr. Ganpatrao Deshmukh. The resignations will not affect the Government as for a clear majority in the 288-member House.— PTI
