SSLC topper wants to enter IAS

Chennai May 30. The State topper in the SSLC examination, B. Hemapriya, a student of Jayarani Girls Higher Secondary School, Salem, wants to become an IAS officer. She had been scoring good marks consistently from LKG. In the SSLC, she scored 493 out of 500.

Hemapriya said she did not expect to score the first rank, but was confident of securing the first rank at district-level.

Only daughter of S.Bhaskaran, General Assistant, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, and Obulakshmi, teacher in the Gugai Higher Secondary School, Hemapriya attributed her success to the "sheer hard work and grace of God".

S. Naveen of Sri Vidya Mandir Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Uthangkarai, Dharmapuri, first ranker scored 1054 out 1100 to stand first in the Matriculation examinations. Naveen attributed his success to his school coaching and his hard work. He wants to take up a career in medicine. Naveen secured 182 in Tamil and English, 199 in Maths, 298 in Science and 193 in History and Geography. Naveen's father, V. Sundaram, runs a hardware shop in Dharmapuri.

R.K. Karthikeyan, student of Stanes HS School, Coimbatore, (972\1000), expressed his happiness over emerging the State topper in the Anglo-Indian School Examinations.

Son of S. Kannaiyan, businessman, Karthikeyan aspires to become a doctor.

Sai Saravanan of Santhome High School in Chennai was overwhelmed with happiness when he heard that he stood second in the State SSLC examinations.

Son of R.Jawahar, a PRO in Tamil daily, Dinakaran, Sai Saravanan, secured the first place in Social Sciences too and State second in Science, with an overall aggregate of 492 marks out of 500.

T. Nishanthi of St. Anne's School, Cuddalore, who secured the third position with 491 out of 500 marks in the SSLC examination, hopes to enter the civil services. The State rank came as a surprise to her.

G. Poornima, Kalaimagal Kalvi Nilayam Matriculation School, Erode, (1053\1100) who has stood State second in the matriculation examinations is the daughter of M. Ganesan, a PWD engineer. She hopes to emulate her brother who is a second-year MBBS student.

M.Swathy of DAV Matric, Chennai, who stood State third, scoring 1,049 marks out of 1,100, wants to pursue a career in medicine. Two students of Tiruchi bagged the second and third ranks in the Anglo-Indian school leaving examinations.

T.Niveditha of the St.Joseph's Anglo-Indian Girls Higher Secondary School bagged the second rank securing an aggregate of 970 marks, with 299 in Science, 200 in Mathematics, 199 in History and Geography, 174 in English and 98 in Tamil.

She is the daughter of V.Thirugnanam, a doctor at the K.A.P. Viswanatham Medical College Hospital, and K.Lakshmi, a housewife.

K.Rahul of Campion Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School got the State third rank with a total of 968 marks, scoring 297 in Science, 198 in History and Geography, 197 in Mathematics, 179 in English and 97 in Tamil.

Rahul's father, R.Krishnan, is a cardiologist, and mother, K.Suchitra, a housewife. Niveditha and Rahul aspire to become doctors.
