Letters to the Editor
Sir, Pakistan has nothing to lose in getting a couple of cities bombed. On the other hand, India which has witnessed progress in the last 10 years has much to lose. The choice for India is to either accept the daily pinpricks of Pakistan or face nuclear bombs. China also is keenly watching for a long-term strategy of supplying missiles and nuclear material to Pakistan to get its most close economic competitor (India) out of the way for the next 50 years. If India is out, a $ 50 billion software business for 2008 will go 100% to China! A solution that comes to my mind is this: G8, which can now arm twist any country in the world, should frame rules for India and Pakistan to follow. Any deviation from these should attract immediate and total sanctions which would include a complete ban on foreign trade, and a commercial and naval blockade. Both the countries would then refrain from going to war.
