The Deputy Election Commissioner, A. N. Jha, said there was 40 to 45 per cent polling in Akbarpur (Uttar Pradesh), 50 in Dumka (Jharkhand) and about 40 in Amalapuram (Andhra Pradesh) Lok Sabha constituencies. In the Assembly constituencies, the turnout was between 55 and 60 per cent in Danapur and Chatapur (Bihar) and 55 in Saidapet , Vaniyambadi and Acharappakkam (Tamil Nadu) Police firing and clashes among rival groups took place in Danapur and Chatapur.
