He said the byelection from the constituency held today was marred by low turnout, and political party workers feared that nearly 40 per cent of the names had been deleted while revising the voters' list. Mr. Pawar submitted a memorandum to the Chief Returning Officer for the byelection, and said 40 per cent of the voters were unable to exercise their franchise as their names were missing in the revised list. Mr. Pawar demanded an inquiry into the incident and sought a re-election. He accused the Congress of tampering with the voters' list, and said almost 25 per cent of the voters who had exercised their franchise during the elections to the city corporation last May were unable to vote in the byelection as their names were missing. This had proved the involvement of the Congress in manipulating the voters' list, he added.
