Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: C. Narayana Reddy, Chairman, AP State Cultural Council, here on Friday announced Hamsa Awards for this year. Accordingly, Alekhya (dance), Vasireddy Sita Devi (literature), Palagummi Viswanatham (music), Ponnala Ramasubba Reddy (drama), P.R. Raju (painting) and Kumpati Surya Bhagavantha Rao (folk art) were selected by the jury. Dr. Narayana Reddy said the awards would be presented on June 12 at Ravindra Bharathi. Ramasubba Reddy would render a few poems from "Chitra Nalineeyam'' on the occasion while Surya Bhagavantha Rao would display his "Dappu'' skills for a while. Dr. Narayana Reddy announced that a 10-day workshop for writers on "media-writing skills'' would be held at Ravindra Bharati conference hall from June 28. In all, 25 candidates would be selected for the workshop and accommodation would be provided for them at Lalitha Kala Thoranam. Board and lodging would be looked after by the department.
