Letters to the Editor
Sir, As an Indian citizen living in the United States for several years, I have followed the progress that India has made in recent years with pride and delight. If there is one thing about India that makes me feel ashamed, it is the nuclear weapon. I feel it is India's destiny to be a great power some day. A key to being a great power is to show leadership. Giving up nuclear weapons and signing the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) now will be in line with our culture, history, and civilisation. It will deepen India's friendship with the U.S., Japan and other Western powers. India will be doing a great service to all humanity and will be showing good leadership.
