Letters to the Editor
Sir, With the Presidential elections just a few weeks away, there has been much talk about who the next President should be. For a poor country like India the amount of money that goes into the maintenance of the President's Secretariat is staggering. The 2001-02 budget for the Rashtrapati Bhavan was approximately Rs. 9 crores. No candidate seems to be a visionary such as Rajendra Prasad or Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. So, do we need a President?
Sairam Sanath Kumar,
