Police said Sameena (22), who hails from Sidlaghatta in Kolar District, married Palraj (28) two years ago against the wishes of her family. Palraj and Sameena had been receiving threats from her family and they changed houses frequently to escape from this. The family of Sameena was insisting that Palraj, a Christian, should convert to Islam. The couple reportedly moved to the Kodihalli house only a couple of weeks ago. Sameena's family members approached the couple a week ago and asked Palraj to convert to Islam. On Wednesday, Sameena's brother and five others, armed with weapons, came to the house in a car and a two-wheeler, allegedly assaulted the two, and took away the child. It is said that the assailants slit the couple's throats. While on their way, the car skidded and went off the bund of a lake at Kerekodi in Varthur Police Station limits. Following a tip off, a police sub-inspector from the Varthur Police Station attempted to nab the victims. While he managed to get one of the accused, Salim, others escaped under the cover of darkness. The couple's child was reportedly taken away on a two-wheeler. The neighbours of the house, who witnessed the murder, have given a description of the accused. The bodies of the couple have been sent for post-mortem. The police have seized the car and have recovered bloodstained weapons from the vehicle. The Commissioner of Police, H.T.Sangliana, visited the spot.
