Dismissing a petition filed by one S. Harshvardhan seeking to quash the acquisition notification issued by the Industries Department on November 3, 1999 under Section 4(1) of the Land Acquisition Act 1984, Justice P. Sathasivam said ``the Government, with the object of achieving greater economic development and to provide largescale employment to the masses and sustain industrial development, has established a modern industrial park with necessary infrastructure.'' ``Considering that a number of multinationals like Ford and the Hyundai Motor Corporation have set up huge automobile units for manufacture of different kinds of vehicles, the place is ideally suited (for such a factory).'' The averment by the petitioner on the non-compliance with the rule was ``sketchy and without any particulars whatsoever.'' Also, all requirements contemplated in Part VII of the Land Acquisition Act had been fully complied with by the Government. ``The land is not being acquired for real estate purpose as claimed. It is being promoted by the Government with the object of establishing an industrial park along with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation.'' ``In view of the legal position, coupled with the factual details, I reject the argument advanced by counsel for the petitioner,'' said Mr. Justice Sathasivam. The petitioner, owning two pieces of land measuring 2.80 hectares together, contended that since the acquisition was for a company, the Government agencies had not strictly followed the provisions, particularly Part VII of the Land Acquisition Act and the Land Acquisition (Companies) Rules 1963.
